NewTabPageLocation but to the location field?

Is there a way to default the direction of the entry cursor to the address bar URL field when a new tab is created?

This behavior is how many other browsers handle new tab creation.  Take the user to a new tab, drop the entry cursor in the URL location field and they can type where ever they want the browser taken next.  Some tie use of the bar to searching and/or using autocomplete, which is separately configurable.

Not just to portal page with a entry field, but to the URL address bar field itself.  Is this not possible with Edge?

Thanks,

-Bill Kearney

      HotCakeX Try it.

That will take you to another page.

But that does not result in the cursor going to the URL location bar, just to whatever page URL you set in that policy.

Um what you mean by another page? which page?

if you have installed Edge policy files, you can find it here:

        • GP path (Mandatory): Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge/Startup, home page and new tab page
        • GP path (Recommended): Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge - Default Settings (users can override)/Startup, home page and new tab page

This extension provides the means to do this, but something trivial like this doesn't seem like something that should require encumbering the browser with an extension (that might have other potential security complications).
