MS Edge and RFC 2818 conformity-> SAN name, CN Name

Hi there,

I am new here and so far I haven´t been able to find information here to answer my question.  So please forgive me, in case this question has been asked before.

Is MS Edge strict on the implementation on RFC 2818 ? Will it only look for a subjectAltName (dNSName) in a certificate or is the presence of the CN Name also sufficient? In other words, will the connection be established if only a CN Name is present?
