Microsoft Edge not performing swiftly

This is a common fault of my PC as the MS Edge does not respond most of the time. Also it was noticed that if it responds it takes a long time. My work is always held up due to the troubles created by Microsoft Edge. Kindly help me out to troubleshoot it.
