Microsoft Edge 117 for MacOS (Apple Silicon) crashes on startup, 116 does not
On MacOS Ventura 13.5.2, Microsoft Edge upgraded to v117.0.2045.36 and would no longer open. If opening it with the command line option --inprivate it opens but immediately crashes if you try to go to Settings.
I downgraded to v116.0.1938.81 and then Microsoft Edge starts up again just fine.
The command line errors I get say:
[8514:259:0920/092838.970480:ERROR:policy_logger.cc(154)] :components/enterprise/browser/controller/chrome_browser_cloud_management_controller.cc(163) Cloud management controller initialization aborted as CBCM is not enabled.
[8514:259:0920/092839.169715:ERROR:assistance_home_client.cc(32)] File path /Users/X/Library/Application Support/Microsoft Edge/Default
[0920/092839.777477:WARNING:crash_report_exception_handler.cc(312)] UniversalExceptionRaise: (os/kern) failure (5)
[8521:15107:0920/092839.783486:ERROR:ssl_client_socket_impl.cc(1148)] handshake failed; returned -1, SSL error code 1, net_error -3
[8521:15107:0920/092839.786025:ERROR:ssl_client_socket_impl.cc(1148)] handshake failed; returned -1, SSL error code 1, net_error -3
It seems like the UniversalExceptionRaise: (os/kern) failure (5) is the critical error causing Edge to crash.
Any ideas how to fix this? I am still on 116 until I can figure out the cause of the crash.
