Language default is Chinese and I can change it over. I bought the Apple when i was in Beijing

I have tried repeatedly, using the language change button in settings. Putting English as my first choice. But there doesnt seem to be a way to turn off the Chinese. So I just ignore it. But it is annoying. And from what I see on the internet others have had the same problem and cant switch it to English. I bought the Macbook Pro from the Apple store in Bejing, which may well be the key problem. The suggest about going into settings then to the language change button... will there isnt an option -- which you guys says should be there -- to delete the other lanaguages.
