is this new logo for edge chromium?
- Nov 03, 2019
Update (11/4):
Trade media articles suggest (as others in this thread have also suggested) that the design evokes surf -- ocean colors, wave shape, and so on -- and if that was the intent, the design does a very good job in that respect while maintaining a hint of "e".
Whatever was intended, the new logo is and will be the Edge logo going forward. It works well in many dimensions, and that is the defining characteristic of a good logo.
Original Comment (11/3):
My guess is that the meld between "c" and "e" is intentional, and tied into Microsoft's marketing plan.
I think that it is well done, even if my first nanosecond reaction was "a blue and green garden slug". It took me a second or two to see the logo for what it is, and it is a clever meld. I think that the logo conveys the Edge-Chromium message with panache.
But if you are concerned that the logo looks too much like a "c" rather than a "e", all that has to be done to correct that is to extend the middle loop a bit further. That would nudge it in the direction of an "e" while keeping the meld intact.
WLStudios I don't agree with you, because the purpose of this browser is multi-platform, so it's design doesn't need to be exclusive to Windows 10. Also it is not that different from the old Edge logo if you look at the Blue. I am more concerned about the Dark Theme being implemented by the Edge Insider pages and the Store. Adding Dark Theme to Bing would also make a difference in attracting audience to this Browser just like adding an invitation to Bing to open it in this browser like "Internet Explorer is trying to open a UWP App". That would be way more useful feedback than trying to change an icon that already does the job and isn't that, with a pinch of salt, far away from the modern GUI Icon style.

Seems you & I agree, Kevin. Including about Dark in Bing.com. Especially, considering the NTP can be Dark. (Bit inconsistent) As for Dark elsewhere, web pages can be Dark in all 3, albeit with a Flag. Personally, I am sure this will end up happening without the Flag due to its popularity.
Cheers,
Drew

HotCakeX Dark theme for websites on Windows? That's brilliant! I just found out a week ago you can do this on Samsung internet on Android and I was so surprised, Edge implementing this also is even better. Just a little disappointing that you need to force this trough the browser, since the Edge Insider download page and Store are part of New Microsoft Edge, so they need to support it their selves, besides it's Microsoft, support your own brand-new products (Bing should do this as well, to attract people to this browser and to extend the good browser experience). Still cool they did it. Apart from that, I didn't try to accuse anyone, but one thing Microsoft does ask for is sharing your thoughts in this forum, whether they won't use it or will, like with dark theme support :D.

though there are some websites that respect the appearance option in the Edge insider settings (Dark/Light theme), one of those websites that I found is this:
https://www.windowscentral.com/
it changes the style to dark/light mode on the fly without the need to refresh the page if you change your Edge insider theme
edge://settings/appearance
hope more websites become like that 🙂
