is this new logo for edge chromium?
- Nov 03, 2019
Update (11/4):
Trade media articles suggest (as others in this thread have also suggested) that the design evokes surf -- ocean colors, wave shape, and so on -- and if that was the intent, the design does a very good job in that respect while maintaining a hint of "e".
Whatever was intended, the new logo is and will be the Edge logo going forward. It works well in many dimensions, and that is the defining characteristic of a good logo.
Original Comment (11/3):
My guess is that the meld between "c" and "e" is intentional, and tied into Microsoft's marketing plan.
I think that it is well done, even if my first nanosecond reaction was "a blue and green garden slug". It took me a second or two to see the logo for what it is, and it is a clever meld. I think that the logo conveys the Edge-Chromium message with panache.
But if you are concerned that the logo looks too much like a "c" rather than a "e", all that has to be done to correct that is to extend the middle loop a bit further. That would nudge it in the direction of an "e" while keeping the meld intact.
also they didn't ask our opinion for changing the logo of their browser, it was all a surprise, so what makes you think they are going to listen to us now.

Nail on the head. It is, absolutely, true that it is by the numbers. Items that have a high amount of concern & mention, if it seems to be a majority of Users, that stuff is at the top of the list. It is tough when something is, really, important to some people & seems neglected or ignored. What they don't know is there is not enough people seeming to care about 'it' for it to be high on the list. It is oft hard, I think, for individuals to be mindful that this like this are 'written' for Global application, for EVERYONE not, just them or a few. And be mindful of "You can't please everyone all the time". MS is trying via the Edge Insider Program to give the best, most appealing as possible to & for as many people as possible. Also, there is the compounded challenge of trying to please a gamut of End Users from Enterprise to SMBs to Consumers.
For myself, performance & features take precedence over the look of a logo or the shape of a corner.
Cheers,

- HotCakeXDec 01, 2019MVPIt's a company logo, i don't think they want opinion of non-Microsoft staff/employees for that.
they weren't looking for feedback/opinion for the logo in the first place.
also people in the forum don't even account for 0.1% of the Edge users, so even if all of us agree to change the logo (which never happens), it still won't be enough to make them change the logo, because they won't know the opinion of the rest of the 99.9%.
realistically speaking.- WLStudiosDec 01, 2019Brass ContributorThat is literally the entire purpose of this forum to collect feedback from the beta user base, regardless of the topic. That is literally the headline that draws people into this forum, so there's a nice little obtuse moment for you. It most certainly wasn't put here for you to berate other users for sharing their opinions.
Our 0.1% collection of users provides statistical representation of the user population, the population that bothers to make the effort to provide their opinions and ideas on the platform made for that exact purpose. When an organization conducts a statistical survey about America's favorite icecream, asking all three hundred million American's about their favorite icecream is an exorbitantly insurmountable task, which is why they take a survey of 100 randomly selected Americans as a sample for the rest of the population.
In a statistical study, the opinion of this .1% is the best representation Microsoft has of the other 99.9%.
So, what truly is YOUR purpose here?- HotCakeXDec 01, 2019MVPMicrosoft provided clear guidelines, what kind of feedback they want and about exactly what parts of the browser.
they never asked for opinion to change the logo.
they do want to know about features, problems, erros, hangs etc, but not the logo.
