Is Build 118 (Canary build) broken? The browser will close 1-2 seconds after I open it.
I am using Edge Canary on Windows 11. The build for the browser is 118.0.2059.0. Unfortunately, the browser will automatically close itself 1-2 seconds after it's been opened. I can not even get to s...

Hi RORW_WORK ,
Try to delete the old preferences file to avoid this behavior. Maybe is damaged or has any unsoported value that causes this.
The file are called "preferences" and is located in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge SxS\User Data\Default\
You will not lose your bookmarks, because is stored in another file called bookmarks in the same directory.

- RORW_WORKAug 29, 2023Copper ContributorMany thanks for the response. I, in fact, did just that when troubleshooting the issue myself. Finding this on Windows was interesting to start, but not too difficult. Finding it on macOS was even more interesting. NOTE: In both cases the folders are normally hidden in the OS.
Once I had renamed my "Default" folders and opened the browser again, it all worked normally. I was able to get the browser to update to the new build "118.0.2068.0". I then went back and deleted the newly created "Default" folder and renamed my old one back to "Default".
Long story short, it worked and now Edge Canary is happy once again. There was just something really bad in that 2060 build that made Edge crash hard.
Just glad they fixed it. - Dennis5mileAug 29, 2023Silver Contributor
Good Catch Dan! Though I did not delete the Preference file and renamed it, this did work.
