I'm surpised you havent noticed New Bing sidebar and are releasing visibly similar feature. Should do miracles for user confusion.

The AI in Microsoft products such as Microsoft 365, GitHub, Windows (coming soon) and others is called Copilot, so it makes sense for AI in Edge to be called the same too. Eventually I think all of the AIs will be called copilot.
