IE Mode on macOS

I am looking forward to using IE mode for ActiveX support. We have an ActiveX control that is currently used exclusively with the Microsoft Windows platform. We constantly get requests for support of the control using other platforms and browsers. Now that Edge is supported on macOS and others, will IE mode allow ActiveX controls to work with non-Microsoft operating systems as well as Edge for Windows?

It is not supported. You cannot install IE on Mac as it was discontinued in 2005, so sites that rely on ActiveX won't work. ActiveX should be avoided if you want multiplatform compatibility with your website.

  • Hi,
the IE mode in the Edge insider browser relies on the Internet explorer files. so in order for IE to work, the Internet explorer must be able to be installed and present in the OS, without the IE mode would not work.
I'm not up to date with the latest changes in that Mac OS, so let me ask you, can you install and run Internet explorer latest version on Mac OSX right now?
