How safe is edge browser

A few times my computer taken over   by suspicious people with voice warning claiming my computer got virus and has to contact MS through this number: 020 3597 2811 to remove the virus. To get rid of it, I disconnected the computer from power supply. After that, my computer was OK. Last week I called the number. they tried to controlled my computer  But didn't let them.  They took over my computer while I was checking news on MS edge browser.

  • It's important to note that the issue you experienced with your computer being taken over is not related to the safety of the Edge browser itself. Instead, it sounds like you fell victim to a common scam known as tech support scam, where scammers use various tactics, including fake pop-ups and phone calls, to trick people into giving them remote access to their computers, installing malware or paying for unnecessary services.

In general, Edge is considered a secure web browser, and Microsoft has made several improvements to its security features over the years. For example, it includes a built-in phishing filter that helps detect and block suspicious websites, and it also supports sandboxing, which isolates the browser from the rest of the system to prevent potential exploits from compromising the computer.

However, like any software, Edge can still be vulnerable to security threats if it's not kept up-to-date or if users engage in risky behavior, such as clicking on suspicious links or downloading files from untrusted sources. It's always important to be cautious when browsing the web and to take steps to protect your computer, such as using antivirus software and keeping your operating system and applications up-to-date with the latest security patches.
