HEVC video decoding broken with B-frames
jesseinsfThis problem happened when I played the local HEVC codec mp4 video, I don’t think it is related to PlayReady DRM
The same 1080p file is a weird stuttery mess if I remux it to MP4 and drag and drop it on Edge Dev.
HEVC Extensions from Device Manufacturer 1.0.41023.0 with an AMD GPU on 21H1.

In the November release of version 33424 has been recently updated to version 41483 has shown a decoding problem.

aliofwind Wow it really works..... h265 now plays smoothly in Edge (Chromium). thank you. - AmineIJul 05, 2021Brass Contributor
You are absolutely right, very nice find. So it may actually be a regression of the HEVC Extension itself and not completely related to Edge. It's still interesting that the Movies & TV app plays the same video just fine on any version

This is still not fixed. The video file in the top half of the page is an HEVC video with b-frames. Still a laggy/stuttery mess in Edge Stable and Dev. https://h265.webmfiles.org/embed-h265-video.php
To clarify, I only noticed this issue again because I guess the Store must've let the HEVC Extension auto-update itself again. Re-installing 31823 and restarting Edge makes b-frame playback work just fine. How does a regression like this go unfixed for close to a year?
