Hand and cursor (Canary)
Hello
Since some versions of Canary, there is no longer the "hand" on the links or the mouse cursor disappears on certain popups (the one to close several tabs for example)
When Edge has been launched for some time
Then it comes back after a while
- tistouBronze Contributor
There is no one from Microsoft staff to do tests, tell us what tests to do, debugs to do, etc... ???
Instead of leaving this bug present indefinitely... - tistouBronze Contributor
And for the links instead of the hand, I have the cursor (see video) and the cursor disappears in the Favorites list for example

With the latest Canary build, part of the problem seems to be fixed, but if Canary is open for a long time, there is the "hand" that appears in a text field instead of the usual cursor
Too bad there is no "feedback" from the Canary team, to know if the resolution is in progress or at least well taken into account.

To show one of the problems that came back (the cursor disappears)

A video to show the behavior of the cursor on a link
And the little blue circle that turns when Edge has been open for some time (10 minutes currently)- G4iaBrass Contributor
Hi tistou,
Based on your description and the behavior you've demonstrated, this could be related to either a rendering glitch or a conflict with certain processes running in the background of Edge.
Here’s how you can troubleshoot and (hopefully) resolve this issue:
Step 1: Disable Hardware Acceleration
Sometimes, hardware acceleration can cause display or cursor issues in certain builds of Edge.
- Go to Settings > System and performance.
- Toggle off "Use hardware acceleration when available".
- Restart Edge and see if the cursor behavior improves.
Step 2: Test with Extensions Disabled
Certain extensions can interfere with browser behavior. To check if extensions are causing the issue:
- Go to Extensions (via the toolbar or by typing edge://extensions/).
- Toggle off all extensions and restart Edge.
- Test the cursor behavior. If it’s resolved, enable extensions one by one to identify the culprit.
Step 3: Clear Browser Cache and Cookies
Corrupted cache files can also cause unusual behavior.
- Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll to Clear browsing data and click Choose what to clear.
- Select Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data (make sure you’re okay losing cookie-based settings).
- Restart Edge and test again.
Step 4: Check for Canary Updates
Since Canary is a pre-release build, bugs are more common. Ensure you’re running the latest version:
- Go to Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
- Check for updates and install if available.
- Restart Edge to apply the updates.
Step 5: Reset Edge Settings
If none of the above steps work:
- Go to Settings > Reset settings.
- Click Restore settings to their default values.
- Restart Edge and test.
Additional Information
The "blue circle" you mentioned could indicate that Edge is processing something in the background, possibly related to tabs or extensions. Monitoring Edge’s task manager might help pinpoint what's running:
- Open Edge’s Task Manager (Shift + Esc).
- Look for any processes consuming unusual amounts of resources.
- End those processes temporarily to see if it impacts the cursor behavior.
Let me know if these steps work for you! If the issue persists, you might consider reporting it directly through the Feedback Tool (Alt + Shift + I) to ensure the Edge team addresses this in future updates.Hope this helps!

Tested all the methods mentioned and still the same problem
I tested the "stable" version and no problemThe problem therefore comes from Canary then, to see when MS will correct this problem because it is really annoying
