"Find" on PDFs only searches visible pages, not whole document
I'm using Dev and I've had this problem for a few weeks now where I search on PDFs using standard Ctrl+F functionality. When I search for a term, it will come up properly, but only for the couple of pages that are currently rendered on screen (not sure if this is related to the fact that the PDF is constantly re-rendering when I scroll up and down). I don't have this issue on normal Edge, where it searches the whole PDF, as expected. Haven't seen anyone else mention this, so perhaps I'm doing something weird. But since I've been through a few updates since it started, I figured I might throw it into the ether and see if anyone else has noticed this.

Hey Pete,
Are you using Windows 10 or 11? Also, can you confirm you see this behavior on the PDF I'm testing with https://www.anderson1.org/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=24440&dataid=44258&FileName=hobbit.pdf? I'm using the search term "north" and see 57 results. I'm testing in Canary Version 111.0.1615.0 (64-bit).- cyrribraeCopper Contributor
Hi, sorry didn't see the response in email (or didn't get it?). I'm currently on 110.0.1587.6 Dev on Windows 11. When I search "north" I get the 1 result from the 1st page. Same thing when I do it from InPrivate (though, this time I did get something that comes up sometimes, which is that it shows "1/0" or "whatever number/0" results until I click the arrow to cycle through them and it'll get the (in)correct denominator). I'm about to update and I'll let you know if anything changes.
Edit: Now on Version 110.0.1587.11 Dev (64-bit), still the same results.
- Jeremiah-VIron ContributorHi cyrribrae,
Find is showing results for the entire PDF on my machine using Stable, Dev, and Canary channels. What version of Dev are you using? Enter edge://settings/help in the address bar to see the build number. Also, try testing in a new InPrivate Window.
