Favorite Bars in Workspaces changed since this morning

Hi everyone!

Since yesterday, all my Workspaces had their own favorite bars. When I reopened Edge this morning, I was shocked at first, because I thought my favorites had all disappeared. But it turns out they are now hidden under a folder on the left of the Favorites Bar, making it annoying and cumbersome to access them and the rest of the Favorites bar is now shared among Workspaces.

I don't know if I accidentally changed an option but I couldn't find a way to revert it back to how it was.

I also couldn't find any information on this being a new feature that was introduced yesterday. If it is, I really don't like it because I don't want to see my work related tabs when I am in my free time workspace and clicking an extra folder each time I want to access a workspace is really cumbersome.

Has anyone else noticed this change? I really hope it is an option. ðŸ˜…

nullbon I sent this feedback to Microsoft.  If you feel like I do, copy it and send via the feedback function in Edge.

    Hi Microsoft Team,

With the latest Edge update, the functionality of "workspaces" has unfortunately taken a step back for me. One of the primary benefits I valued in workspaces was the ability to keep a separate set of favorites on the favorites bar for each workspace. This separation was essential for organizing my workflow effectively.

In the current version, all workspace favorites are now accessible only by clicking a button, and I can no longer keep only those specific favorites displayed in the favorites bar. Having this level of control was crucial to my productivity, and I miss the simplicity of this setup.

Please consider reintroducing the ability to assign distinct favorites to the favorites bar for each workspace, as it was before. This feature was invaluable for my use of Edge, and I’m hoping it can make a return.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Let me know if you’d like to add or change anything to make it fit your experience even better!

Thanks!! Done! Let's hope they rethink it or at least introduce an option.

I looked it up and was able to find the version they added the feature.

Thanks... it says it was a controlled rollout and it is so long ago and we're like the first people to complain about it. I doubt they're ever gonna change it back with how slow it is moving. I'm really disheartened. I only just found Edge and it was basically the browser I've always been looking for and was immediately in love. And after a week of use it is almost useless to me now. :/

I don't like it. The main reason I use workspaces is to keep them totally separate from the default setup. I only want what's relevant to be visible in the browser.

Hi everyone! I just checked out the Edge Dev channel and the favorites bar in that build is back to how it used to be. So hopefully this means our voices were heard! I hope the update finds its way into stable soon. But whoever else is bothered a lot by it, I recommend switching to Canary or Dev for the time being.

It seems like I was wrong? I opened Edge Dev and now this one is showing the new changed favorites bar as well, like the Stable. I wonder why? It was a fresh install and I had never installed Edge Dev before.

I'm also witnessing the same change. This is a stupid move by Microsoft. Now the purpose of having a certain workspace is no longer served— why one had a need for a workspace? Because he/she wanted to keep their different work profile segregated from each other nullbon

I feared that's the case 😕 I wish they would introduce it as an option instead of disrupting our workflows without prior warning.

It may sound fussy, but with this change Edge went from the perfect Browser that suits my workstyle perfectly to slightly better than Vivaldi.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, it's amazing how one small update ruined edge for me

Hello! I made an account to reply here. I was also unpleasantly surprised by this sudden and unncessary change.

The old favorites bar was much more intuitive and made navigating and organizing bookmarks for specific Workspaces so much easier. With the new setup, it feels clunky and less efficient, which has made Workspaces less appealing to use. I would really like to see the bookmarks I curated for each Workspace specifically, at my finger tips!

I strongly feel the previous functionality should be brought back, or at least give users the option to choose how it works. Are there plans to address this feedback? Please consider reverting this change to keep Workspaces as productive and user-friendly as it used to be.

Could somebody from the Edge Team fill us in on the decision, and if they would consider reverting it or offer an option?

This update ruin my experienced. One of the main reasons I use MS Edge because I can separate bookmark of each workspace. I don't see any benefit from this change. What the head of product of this company thinking...?
