Enterprise End User Browser Automation

I work on an automation team and we have always used shdocvw to get reference to an open IE session. We also use MSHTML parse and read the data from the DOM. Will there eventually be an equivalent for the Edge browser. From what I have seen so far is test automation via WebDriver. This is not really an end user tool. I have seen videos of Power Automate Desktop where it can get an existing Edge browser session and manipulate the page. It would be great to have similar functionality available to all developers.
