Edge Transparent Menus
The new transparent menus in Edge are not usable. When I right click on something I can see the transparent menu appear, but I cannot read any of the text on the menu. I have no idea what the selec...
- Mar 06, 2022I was going nuts on this one as well. It must not look as bad for some people. I could not read the text at all with it on. I found a solution to turn the new feature off. Go to edge://flags and look for a setting called "Enable Windows 11 Acrylic effect in menus" change the setting to Disable and you should be good to go. I have not noticed if "Enable Windows 11 Mica effect in title bars" is causing any issues or not.

I have to rectify: "Enable Windows 11 Acrylic effect in menus" does not solve the problem on Windows 10.

Hey, It does solve the problem in the menus but it does not solve it in dropdowns. So it works only partially - at least for me. The Choose ANGLE graphics backend -> D3D11on12 setting worked for me for both menus and dropdowns. And it works in both Win10 and Win11 VMs. Looks like D3D may need some touches on the hypervisor. Possibly (untested) disabling 3d acceleration in the hypervisor could help here as well.
