Edge prior version subfolders after update

After an Edge update, there is an actual version subfolder under

"c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application"

eg. "c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\124.0.2478.67" 

but on occasion there are multiple old versions stored under several version-based subfolders. How can I disable this feature so that only the current version exists?
