This sounds like Edge and the game/GPU stack may be fighting over graphics acceleration or overlays.
I’d try disabling Edge hardware acceleration first: Edge Settings > System and performance > turn off “Use hardware acceleration when available,” then restart Edge. Also update your graphics driver directly from NVIDIA/AMD/Intel, and temporarily disable game overlays such as Xbox Game Bar, Discord, Steam, GeForce/Adrenalin overlays.
If it only happens after one specific game, check whether that game changes HDR, refresh rate, or fullscreen optimizations. Edge’s edge://gpu page can also show if the browser is falling back or hitting graphics errors after the game closes.
