Edge keeps signing me out
- May 17, 2024
florismkleijne HP Elitebook laptop, Windows 11 (language Norwegian), changed from 365 work account to personal 365 account earlier this year. Login to Windows with personal account. Had this problem with Microsoft Edge signing me out all the time.
Possible solution: Opened Settings, Accounts, Login options, deleted all Hello options (face recognition, finger print and PIN). Recreated these Hello options. I guess there was a connection to my earlier work account in these settings. After restart of laptop there is no problem with Edge signing me out (so far so good day at one). Will report back later this week.
Im using Edge on a Linux Device and it doesnt happen there, on my win 10 device it happens now with every start of edge, bookmarks and so on get synced no problem when logged in

not shure why people still replying to this forum,, solution is in here many times, ,and no matter what OS you have it happens in any OS, as issue is with edge after some updates colided.,, so reset edge is the solution usually via control panel add/remove apps, right click edge and click change, then click repair and it will re download edge, if not create a new user account, if not last resort is reinstall your OS , via inlplace upgrade if want to keep files and settings .Wasemack

Resetting edge with every single start of edge is NOT a solution 🙂
Also, I wont create a new Microsoft account to loose everything on my account just bc the issue is an account issue on their end?
Especially now that they are making everything account exclusive. This is an issue still happening and needs to get fixed by Microsoft and noone else.
It only happens on my win 10 device no matter how often I reset/reinstall edge OR windows.
on my linux, never happens.
- computerdave911Sep 03, 2024Brass Contributorif you reinstalled windows it puts old edge version, make sure its up to date, by going to the 3 dots in upper right of edge , then settings, then on bottom left clicl about edge and it will start updateing automatically if not up to date already,, should be Version 128.0.2739.54 (Official build) (64-bit). if happens on a different computer you say , does it happen in windows 11,, if not then use rufus to install windows 11 if your pc not support it, not a solution but if works in 11 then issue is not your account , if issue is your account microsoft only solution is to create a new account, but if works on windows 11 , then that will be your solution,, nothing else you can do
- tomzaoAug 29, 2024Copper ContributorThe solution that has been presented here many times does not work. As I wrote above, the problem has been occurring for months, on many devices, reinstalled many times. The applications affected by the problem are mainly Edge, but also To Do and Outlook. By process of elimination, everything points to a Microsoft account issue and only Microsoft can do anything about it, hence the need to continue the thread. If you have nothing to add to this issue, please refrain from disciplining others who are having this issue.

it happened to me on 4 different devices (and counting) and on almost ALL of the microsoft apps that uses a MS account. One morning I powered on my PC and I got that exact same login error on: Edge, Defender, Skype, Mail App and on Windows itself, at the same time (see screenshot attached).
This is going on for WAY too long and is becoming a real pain.
But they refuse to acknowledge it.

computerdave911 actually that's not true - I used edge on Linux - official distribution, not flatpak, and there was no issue. Also issue stopped for me on Windows few months ago. I guess it's MS account specific. But 2 days ago I stopped using edge, as on mobile since month it is impossible to write in any text field. I could not stand this issue and now I am on opera.
EDIT: For me, there was one setting that helped on this issue:
- Login to your microsoft account in browser
- Go to your profile > privacy
- Go to last setting on the bottom ( https://imgur.com/a/gq7ci2t )
- ENABLE it.
Now, to be clear, it didint helped just like that, issue resolved somewhere between week - 2 weeks later. Try this, if the setting is enabled, check the rest of the settings - maybe you will find some setting that match the situation.
