Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?
JosefAporue wrote:The only solution that works is this:
1. Disable the Favourites bar (Go to edge://settings/appearance#CustomizeToolbar, set the "Show favourites bar" option to Never.)2. Disable the Favourites button (Go to edge://settings/appearance#CustomizeToolbar, disable the Favourites button)
2. Go to: edge://favorites
3. Pin the Favourites page (right click the tab and select Pin tab)
From now on, your Favourites are accessible from the pinned Favourites tab and will ALWAYS open in a new tab from that page.
Good work around, but the first 2 steps are unnecessary"

2. Disable the Favourites button (Go to edge://settings/appearance#CustomizeToolbar, disable the Favourites button)"
You can just do the steps 3-4 (even though your steps are incorrectly numbered) you listed and it will work.
They have stripped "ALL" other ways to make "Always open Favorites in new Tabs" out of Edge. Why, only they know........ And for some reason they seem to refuse to let us in on their reasoning.......

If you found my post helpful please like it and if it fixed your issue please consider accepting it as the solution. This is a nice simple way you can thank me for my contribution
P.S. This Macro stolen from @Allen
I truly HATE Microsoft....
For those who want the old "Work Around" to actually work....
I've been able to do so by putting the "Shortcut" code on BOTH the Properties of the Shortcut in the Start Menu, AND the Properties of the shortcut if you have the Shortcut pinned to the Taskbar.
Anyway, putting the code in BOTH shortcuts makes it work for me. If I do just one, like the one in the Start menu it WILL NOT WORK.
(though I haven't yet tried if just putting it in the Taskbar one only will work)
FYI....
Oh, and why.... do I hate Microsoft more? My biggest HITS!!!
- Give us a worse Start Menu in 11.... Sure, it's fine for those with a few programs, but for people like me who have up to 100 Programs all Organized, Labeled, and Sized Nice in Win10's Start Menu, easy to see and get, 11's is literally UNUSABLE...!
Why couldn't they at least give us PROS 10's menu in Windows PRO at least? I mean, it's what PRO is for, us PRO's.
- 11's Explorer Menu, again UNUSABLE for us Power Users.... 11's Explorer menu is someone's personal THEME, NOT designed for the masses. Shame on them.
Again, provide the original in PRO at least...!
We shouldn't have to use a 3rd Party program just to get BASIC functionality to work like we need, with things we TOUCH many times a day.
- Forcing us into MS Outlook Mail....
Terrible UI, can't read things well like with "Mail & Calendar" it's very well done.
No Unified Inbox.
Intrusive AD.... when they have lots of "blank space" they could put ads if they need them "so badly".
Making the Ad look like an email is just a *** move.
These are my biggest current HATES atm... I have many little ones.
- Dennis5mileSep 26, 2024Silver ContributorI have the shortcut workaround in every, every place that canary shortcuts are located and it still will not work for me. I tried these several weeks ago........ and they still do not work for me.......

For the LOVE OF ****.....!!!!
Now with today's updates, I've checked BOTH of those Shortcuts, and they aren't working.
I think the "reason" I got them working again is because I've also disabled the million things Microsoft keeps running in the background with Edge in Edge Settings.
So, I think that might have been why yours still wouldn't work?
But, the Update today,, which I think added something back or enabled a setting I had removed, added one of those back, so now I have to try to figure it out if I can fix it again. 😞
I truly HATE Microsoft.... A simple feature they can't actually get to work. NEEDED FEATURE.UPDATE: And of course, went through every Setting and don't see anything "new" or that was activated from the Update.
I mean seriously.... Am I going to have to go back to MAXTHON, or maybe Vivaldi? I thought Microsoft was finally being smart adding Modern Browser functions to their Browser, but clearly NOT. Just like Windows, they can't do ANYTHING RIGHT....!!! 😞
I only went to Edge just so I could have and use my info anywhere I go, since every computer has Edge on it.
But, clearly not....I'm tried of Microsoft.... Seriously.
I shouldn't have to use 5 different programs to make Windows 11 and now even 10 on some things for it to work like it should.
I shouldn't have to complain CONSTANTLY about the most BASIC Browser Feature Not existing or Not working in my Browser.
The world is clearly going to HELL.... 😞

As of Today, this key " --enable-features=msFavoritesOpenInNewTabSetting" no longer works in any version of Edge. No idea why they find it necessary to remove it and since no one from MS seems to care enough to want to inform the public or it's beta users the reason for this. We are without it......
I can rememeber when all this started Tech's were eager to post replies in these forums, but today, it would seem they just blow it off...........
