Edge gets open/save/cancel prompts for downloads

how can I remove this and go back to the previous method when there will be a pop up asking if you want to either open/save/cancel, via flags or extensions? it takes extra clicking and it's laggy and sometimes if you are not sure if it is downloading you will end up clicking on the link again, downloading multiple times and it ends up having a badge which you will have to then go and clear it.
