POTENTIAL FIX: Disabling Omen Gaming Hub in task manager makes the Edge smooth again.
If you don't need that software, uninstalling it is also an option.

rafitamolin Oh wow instant fix for the problem. This might explain why my GF's account on the same computer did not experience the same problem (she did not have Omen gaming Hub installed and neither did I until HP decided to install it again without me asking.....)
