Edge beta crashes after 5 seconds on some old versions of Windows 10

For an older Windows 10 release, I would treat Edge Stable and Edge Beta as different products for troubleshooting purposes. Edge Beta is useful when you want to see upcoming changes, but the stable channel is the better baseline for a machine that needs to launch reliably every day. If Stable launches on the same PC while Beta closes after five seconds, that is strong evidence that the issue belongs in a Beta feedback report rather than a general Windows repair.

Test once with a new Edge profile and extensions disabled, then collect the exact Edge build, Windows build, and Application Error entry from Event Viewer. Do not repeatedly reinstall Beta over the same profile. If the crash only occurs on RS1, RS2, or RS3, the unsupported Windows version may be the decisive factor; if it also happens on a supported build, submit the smallest reproducible report through Edge feedback with diagnostics attached.
