Discussion - Set Aside Tabs and Warn on Close

There are cases where concern is needed especially while filling forms and all. Most websites don't offer auto-save option for filling forms and I myself had nightmare situations when accidentally clicked the close button and ending up losing all the data I've filled. And I had to refill from the beginning! This wouldn't have happened there is the warning option. So, it's much needed for users like me.

I agree, though if you only have 1 website open where you are filling out a form, and you click on the X button, you won't get a warning, you need to at least have 2 tabs open.
for that matter, websites can show you a prompt using JS when you try to close their website without saving content.
in fact, this website, Microsoft Tech Community, does exactly that, when i try to close the tab before posting my comment, and this is when i only have 1 tab open.
