Discussion - Set Aside Tabs and Warn on Close
I'm worry that only that some Edge legacy fans are replying to this thread Elliot Kirk
How could you justify to bring back the Set Aside Tabs when only a very small percentage of people used it. What's the point now that we have collections ?

First of all, it's not clear to me that "only a very small percentage of people used it (Set Aside Tabs)." How did you come to this conclusion? There seems to be a lot of interest in it, from my viewpoint. The simple fact that Elliot Kirk opened a separate thread on this topic, saying "many of you are asking for the Tab Set Aside feature..." says a lot about that.
Secondly, if you don't use the feature, why are you concerned about Microsoft bringing it back? This sounds like a case of, "I don't have a need for it, so no one should have it." How about, "I don't have a need for it, but obviously a bunch of other folks do." I've always failed to understand the viewpoint of "I don't need it, so no one needs to have it."

Dan_AI4GK JSyder You misunderstood my comment, it is not about I like/used it or not.
I'm well aware of the interest of this feature but in the legacy Edge, it had a very low percentage of use. I got this private feedback directly from the team. It's hard to decide when to put money and resources on a project, and more difficult to do something that will not be redundant with another feature (collections). They have to decide whether to bring back Set Aside Tabs or enhanced to Collections, or simply build a better feature from all the feedback. At the end, you expect that what you're building is used by the maximum of user available not only a little population.
Yannick Plavonil I agree with much of what you say. If the development team sent you a private message indicating that Set Aside Tabs (S.A.T.) had very low usage, I guess I have to go with that. Did it get low usage because few people knew about it? Did people just not see a value in it? (I know that I didn't, until I actually started using it; now I'm a vociferous defender of it!)
I would have no problem with the team setting up some hybrid of S.A.T. and Collections, as long as they don't develop a camel instead of a horse. (Used to be an adage that a camel was a horse designed by a committee!) At any rate, I suspect that Collections will be little utilized by Edge users like S.A.T., and a hybrid might be the answer. If they decide to do that, I hope that the team leads this discussion into that direction and looks for specific input on that move.

It's obvious, you can refer to the various market share usage statistics and you will see how little Edge classic was used by people. and among those people, probably not all of them were using set tabs aside feature.

Again, there is no empirical data. You're making an assumption that Set Aside Tabs was used extremely infrequently. Again, the fact that Elliot created a thread devoted to it shows that they received a significant number of requests.- Spoiler

what I said was logical, with proof.

Edge had 5% market share and that's all because it was forcefully preinstalled on Windows 10.
lots of those 5% were users who used Edge legacy to download Chrome or Firefox to get back to their works and data.
also it's wise to assume not 100% of that 5% were using set tabs aside feature.
everything is changed with the new Chromium-based Edge of course.
I believe the reason why this thread was started in the first place is because of interest/ need for this feature so we'd go with Microsoft's stats Dan_AI4GK
