Dev channel update to 95.0.1011.1 is live
Hello Insiders! Today we’re releasing build 95.0.1011.1 to the Dev channel, and we’ve got a lot to talk about! Last week we had a bunch of resources for extension developers, but for extension users, this week we’ve got some trending extensions you may want to check out: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/articles/trending-extensions-on-microsoft-edge-add-ons/m-p/2735126. Also, for anybody who’s ever hit F12 and been confounded by the complexity of what pops up, we’ve got an overview of some of the recent work we’ve done to help you make the Dev tools your own: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2021/09/14/edge-devtools-93-personalization/. - Obsoleted the management policy to control if Legacy Same Site Cookie Behavior is Enabled.
Known issues:
- Users of certain ad blocking extensions may experience playback errors on YouTube. As a workaround, temporarily disabling the extension should allow playback to proceed. See this help article for more details.
- Some users are still running into an issue where all tabs and extensions immediately crash with a STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH error. The most common cause of this error is outdated security or antivirus software from vendors like Symantec, and in those cases, updating that software will fix it.
- Users of the Kaspersky Internet Suite who have the associated extension installed may sometimes see webpages like Gmail fail to load. This failure is due to the main Kaspersky software being out of date, and is thus fixed by making sure the latest version is installed.
- Some users are still seeing favorites get duplicated. This issue should be reduced now that automatic deduplication has been introduced into Insider channels, but we’re still rolling that out in Stable. We’ve also seen duplication happen when running the manual deduplicator on multiple machines before either machine has a chance to fully sync its changes, so make sure to leave plenty of time in between runs of the deduplicator.
- Some users are seeing “wobbling” behavior when scrolling using trackpad gestures or touchscreens, where scrolling in one dimension also causes the page to subtly scroll back and forth in the other. Note that this only affects certain websites and seems to be worse on certain devices. This is most likely related to our ongoing work to bring scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy’s behavior, so if this behavior is undesirable, you can temporarily turn it off by disabling the edge://flags/#edge-experimental-scrolling flag.
As always, we couldn’t do this without all your fantastic feedback!

Edge Dev started crashing for me after this update. Anything that starts in the regular window freezes the browser after about 10s, and about 5s later Edge just crashes to desktop. Anything I do in an InPrivate-window works fine, but for example opening Settings transfers to a regular window and then subsequently crashes the browser. Anybody else having this problem?

darkjeric If it's not happening in InPrivate, then it's likely either an extension or some other way your profile is configured that's causing the crash. Have you tried any of the normal troubleshooting steps like disabling extensions, clearing your cache, etc.?
- VirprospereCopper ContributorDoes anyone know how to switch the Edge update channel from stable to Dev? Edge Stable is built into Windows 11.
- basiliefBrass ContributorLive Instagram streams cannot play and have been broken for at least a month. Any ETA on this?
- josh_bodnerSilver Contributor
basilief we made a fix for quite a few Instagram issues this week, does it still happen in the latest update?
- basiliefBrass ContributorIt's finally been fixed in the latest update! Quite happy about that :party_popper:

This update broke the Space Jam theme and I have now lost it forever because I reverted to a built-in theme hoping to get Space Jam to work again after reinstalling it but it is no longer available in the Add-on store. Should've backed it up. Edit: Got the theme folder from one of my other laptops since Edge on it as well has the Space Jam theme installed.
At least the address bar's Korean IME input mode amnesia seems to have finally been cured (and hopefully doesn't recur).

You still cannot hide individual extensions and the extensions button. This is what people (including me) are asking for for months at this point.
- Kinder_SurpriseCopper ContributorWhen will you fix the appearance of keyboard control when working with the mouse when calling up various menus?
- MapantzIron ContributorThird update, and still no answer:
Still have the problem with the cursor always going to the search box on YouTube.
If I refresh the YouTube home page, and perhaps click away to another tab, then come back to it, the cursor is in the search box and the drop down of my searches is in focus.- josh_bodnerSilver Contributor
Mapantz typically we don't have any control over what happens in a webpage. If it wants to set focus somewhere, it can set focus anywhere it wants. Any HTML element can take focus just by calling its focus function. In fact, most webpages with search boxes tend to set focus there since searching for content is the number one thing people do on them. Also, is it possible this is being done by an extension you have installed?
- MapantzIron ContributorVanilla, no extensions. This problem started 3 updates ago. The official EDGE doesn't do this.
- adrianghcIron ContributorEdge 94 was released to beta on desktop almost two weeks ago, while on Android it's still stuck on 93. Meanwhile, the dev channel does get regular updates on Android. What's going on at the beta channel on Android?
- josh_bodnerSilver Contributor
adrianghc We're in the process of (finally) rolling out 93 to Stable on Android, and we want to keep 93 in Beta until that's done just in case we find some bugs during the rollout and need a place to test some fixes before continuing with the rollout.
- adrianghcIron ContributorAlright, thanks for the clarification!

Wasn't hiding the Extension button already possible earlier, and it was just missing in a few recent versions, and back then it worked just like now - resulted in showing all extension buttons? In any case, hiding the extension button while it brings all the extensions visible makes no sense. Please allow hiding both extension button and selected extensions. That is the way.
- jackson1510Brass ContributorAgreed - was hoping we'd be able to hide both the extensions button and all the extensions from the toolbar
