I'm seeing the same thing on my machine - sometimes 30+% CPU just on a single tab.

JeffRichDavis When I'm using a tab, the CPU usage would sometimes go up to 20-30%. However when this issue happens even without using the tab, it would go above 100% for that tab even if it is in the background (see the screen shot - the CPU spike happened just as I was writing this message). On occasions over the past couple of days I've seen the usage spike to 200%+

Mapantz interesting. So when I have the high CPU usage and I delete that process from task manager I get a balloon pop up saying that dark reader extension has crashed. That's why I thought the update might have broken dark reader extension. Could be a different underlying issue too then
