Hi,
With the cursor sitting anywhere, Ctrl+L & Alt+D, in Edge C, both DO bring the focus to the Nav Bar; similar to Edge HTML. Edge C will highlight any existing URL & start typing anew (there).
Any site offering Reading View will have its icon showing at the right end of the URL
NB: Not all sites offer it. When not offered, icon will not show.

It's still not enabled by default on Beta/Stable channel, that's why it requires a flag
