Dev channel update to 80.0.320.3 is live
- Sometimes the browser will appear to not respond to any user input (clicking or scrolling in webpages doesn’t do anything, hovering over UI doesn’t make it change), but clicking on certain buttons still works (like the … menu). The cause of this is due to an error in the GPU process, and opening the browser task manager (right-click near the window minimize/maximize/close buttons or hit shift+esc on the keyboard) will open a window that will allow you to end the GPU process, which will fix the issue.
This issue has been plaguing me for weeks. This would happen every time after visiting a page that used the `background-filter` CSS property. Glad to see it being acknowledged and to know about a workaround.
Adter update to 80 DEV Edge crashes on launch. Windows appears with "Edge closed unexpectedly" dialogue box and then the Windows closes.

I also have this problem!
the only change i have currently to stop this is pressing the "Startpage-Button" before the site loads.
It happens each time a window is open and the browser get closed with the X (from th eWindows)
If you use the Menue and click "Microsoft Edge Exit" then this error does not happen.
Result:
The problem appears on using the X (Exit button of all Windows) and after crashed!
I hope this can be fixed soon. i also reported this allready with the feedback button 🙂

Same here, 80.0.320.3 now crashes every time on launch. Tried to reinstall but it still crashes on launch. Had to install the stable beta version instead.

I, for one, do not have this behavior, at all. Uninstall Dev. Go grab a fresh DL from https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/download. Re-install.

Yeah, "works on my machine" excuse 😉
I have done that, cleaned registry and installed again. Same problem.I saw in comments that someone complained about Bing start tab (which I use also, I like that nice pictures), and when Edge started I have done this:
1. In address bar paste microsoft.com (or some other link)
2. Press enter inmidiatelyAfter that Edge didn't chrashed..
Looks like some bug with Bing start page..

wigstersame for me too. Got both Dev and Canary installed on 2 PC's. After update of both versions on both PC's they crash on opening. I can get Canary to work after a close and open but Dev is just unusable...

andypat there are a few known crashes that we're tracking. One of them is related to sync (a different issue than the one last week even though it's the same behavior), so if you can get to edge://settings/profiles/sync fast enough to disable sync that might help you.
- stedschNov 08, 2019Brass ContributorThis worked for me. Once disabled I re-enabled sync and did not have any more crashes.

wigster Do you have Bing as your start page? On my PC Edge Dev crashes every time I try to open Bing.

I do & it works just as fine as ever. Bugs do not necessarily affect all Users. Please, report your situation to Feedback.
Cheers,
Drew- HotCakeXNov 07, 2019MVPIt also crashes with browser..
- AnonymousNov 05, 2019I have Edge Dev, no crash but my start page is Bing and i have picture of the day, and it is very slow to start.

Is it only the Bing page that is slow to load? I use the same as you, but, mine loads faster than you can blink. Such slowness can have many causes.
Cheers,
Drew
- HotCakeXNov 05, 2019MVPCan you try clicking on the smiley feedback icon and see if it crashes your browser too?
- Andreas149Nov 05, 2019Copper ContributorThe feedback icon is working fine. I also found out that bing.com is no problem, only other TLDs like bing.de or bing.fr are causing a crash.

I've fixed the startup crash on two PCs by quickly clicking the address bar and pressing Enter before the browser dies. Hasn't happened since.
