Dev channel update to 79.0.309.11 is live

Hello Josh, really hope the team is just kiddin' to make this version a beta, with all these unresolved issues:
- The most annoying "automatic" sign-in with the magically created "work" profile, unable to sign-out or delete it and concurrently losing "profile 1"
- Virtual keyboard often not popping up on certain input-fields (especially login-/search-fields, e.g. search in chrome web store). This issue came up first with the 80.0.x builds of canary, I think.
- Screenshots in feedback broken since numerous builds
- No automatic updates for extensions from the chrome web store
- Still no way to sort favorites on touch-devices with finger or pen
- The strange black line underneath the toolbar/favorites bar
Shouldn't all this be fixed first before working on petty details like round or squared buttons? Sorry, just my opinion.
Best regards, Niels
You said nothing but the truth.
These bugs must be fixed without creating additional bugs somewhere else in the code of Edge insider browser.

Thanks, nice to hear that from a dedicated user like you.
Noticing with concern how this great project is slowly going down within the last weeks.
May I ask you a question? Being a power tablet user, I really miss two (imho) key features: swipe-in of the toolbar/addressbar in full-screen mode (like classic edge) and scrollable, touch-friendly tabs.
I've suggested this several times in here without great response, so what's your opinion? Am I expecting too much or do you think we both should try to up-vote this a bit?
Best regards

Neon01 don't worry, we're already tracking most of these bugs:
The Netflix issue was fixed in a recent Canary, and should be fixed in the next Dev build as well.
The SSO issue was also just fixed in Canary within the last day or two.
The extra profile issue just got another fix put into our codebase so that, in Canary in a day or two, you should finally be able to remove the extra "Work" profile if one got added for you and you still aren't able to remove it.
The muted sound issue is possibly due to a known design flaw in the way Windows handle's Chromium's different processes, and how it's not 1:1 with each tab (it's also been known to create different entries for difference devices, in case you have both headphones and a built-in speaker, for example). I saw that HotCakeX already mentioned this, but is it possible that some/all of Edge's processes are muted in the Windows volume mixer?
The black line is a known issue that appeared in Canary recently, and since it's not affecting functionality, we prioritized fixing other bugs ahead of it. Unfortunately, we waited long enough that it made it into Dev.
The black screenshots were something that we made a partial fix for in a previous update, but it's obvious that there are still users that are running into this issue, so I'll make sure the team knows the fix wasn't complete.
The extensions updating issue is currently being investigated by our extensions team, but if it makes you feel any better, it's affecting me too, so I'm personally invested in getting it figured out!
Finally, the spontaneous Application Guard windows issue just had a fix go into Canary within the last day or two as well. Hopefully this covers all the most prevalent things people have mentioned here!

No, no mutes, only one entry showing for edge in the mixer.
As mentioned, this is unique to the (current) dev builds and the beta build right now works fine which is why I am on that. Any other browser (including Chrome) is also fine.
- HotCakeXOct 31, 2019MVPFor most of the problems you are facing, a browser reset would be the same as a browser reinstall, so don't bother uninstall/reinstalling all the time.

josh_bodner Apologies if I'm being impertinent, but I noticed you said you're already tracking "most of these bugs" and then your elaborate list (thanks for that) missed the first two that I reported in the first post of this thread. 😅 Are those two acknowledged as well? I'm talking about the virtual desktop issues and the ones with the shortcuts.

adrianghc Thanks for keeping me honest!
The virtual desktops issue is actually a regression in upstream Chromium that we inherited, so we're waiting on the fix to be made up there too. No word on when that's going to happen though.
We also are investigating the cause for the inconsistent jumplists depending on which shortcut you click, but don't have a fix in for it yet.
chandr1000 were any of your windows minimized? We recently found a bug in upstream Chromium that causes windows that are minimized to not be restored, that may be what you're hitting.
paulheu I'm curious if you could install Canary and see if your audio is muted there. If so, that's a pretty clear indication that there's an Edge bug we need to dig into, and if not, there still may have been, but it could have been fixed recently.
vy1618b I think the bug you're seeing is coming from upstream Chromium, and you can verify that by installing Chrome's Canary and see if the extension behaves the same way as it does in Edge Dev. If so, we'll need to wait on a fix from the Chromium side.

Thank you!
I have the same opinion as you, full-screen mode without address bar and tabs isn't very useful. Edge classic offers a true full-screen experience where users don't need to exit full-screen mode only to choose another tab or type something in the address bar.Google chrome and now the new Microsoft Edge lack that functionality, I hope the new Edge implements it soon, preferably before stable release.
this deserves an upvote ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
