MicrosoftDev channel build 77.0.218.4 is live
Hello Insiders! Today we released build 77.0.218.4 to the Microsoft Edge Developer channel. We’ve got some new features, many of which you’ve seen over the past week in Canary and have been eagerly waiting for in Dev. Additionally, we have now turned on several new languages on the insider website and added an Enterprise page with offline installer and policy samples. We’ve also fixed quite a few reliability and behavior issues, the most significant of which include:
New features and behavior:
- Added more strings to the translation work
- Prevent IE-Mode in Application Guard containers
- Ability to set text size and background theme in Reading View is now under flag.
- Ability to use dark mode on downlevel Windows versions 7, 8 & 8.1
- Search box now clears content with Esc or “x” button
Fixes for improved reliability:
- Fixed a crash on Extensions page.
- Fixed a crash in API keys
- Fixed a crash while opening PDFs
- Fix crash in Sync service
- Fix crash due to cached call in renderer
- Fix deadlock in Windows, where Microsoft Edge blocks shutdown.
- Fix crash in JSON parser
Fixes for improved behavior:
- Fix preventing URL redirection in Application Guard.
- Fix to prevent creation of database until needed (performance)
- Subpage headers display the number of search results.
- Fix to close Profile UI on sign-in
- Dev Tools support using OS theme color on Windows 10
- Fix color contrast for selected favorites
- Fixed Copy / Paste keyboard shortcuts on macOS
- Fix for z-order on history page
- Fixed transparency issue on First Run Experience
- Strengthened launching logic for PDF to specified file names and paths
- Fix to show FavIcons in Favorites management page.
- Fix for account removal in Identity
- Fix for sign-in where account pop-up was not topmost window.
- Fix for data imports from Chrome and Edge during First Run experience.

After upgrade to 77.0.218.4, IE Mode completely disappears. #edge-internet-explorer-integration = IEMode, but there is no menu item to show page in IE.
Tell me please, how IEMode works now?Regards,

- Yep, same issue encountered, no more IE mode in the menus
welzewool Also missing that option here. Pretty much the main reason to use the new Edge at work... :(

It's sounding as if everyone has the same issue. The Team has been notified & likely will have this rectified asap. But, still, submit it to 🙂 The more instances & data they have the better. And it's both Dev and Canary.
Btw, for "at work" IE is, always, available in Win10; without any need for Edge C. Start > Windows Accessories (folder) > IE. Can (then) be pinned to taskbar.

This is a known issue. Everyone keep reporting it to Mr. 🙂 It surely will be corrected soon.

- Where is IE mode? It’s just disappeared when I have upgraded to new version.
- There are some issues I'm having when using Edge with Narrator. It seems to be sluggish, and up arrowing on pages causes the narrator cursor to get stuck at times. It was crashing with Narrator before but not with this build. Other screen readers such as Jaws 2019 work fine.

FYI:
Switch to IE, suddenly, isn't showing (in ellipsis) in latest Dev & Canary... even, with IE integration flags enabled. I, for one, have reported it to 🙂

- I downloaded Edge Dev last night and saw an instant improvement over the original Edge for OS10. I am honored to be a part of the guinea pig trial group. Thanks. I don't do many intricate things, but when the simple things are accelerated, it is amazing.

I'd like to say, as I continue to see/read a large & ever-increasing number of comments of this sort, the adoption of Edge C is going to be enthusiastic, rapid & massive. When Insiders are talking like this the sentiments are going to be heard outside the Insider sphere before Edge C. takes over for Edge. I firmly believe there will be many 'turncoats' and many eagerly awaiting the arrival of Edge-ium; whether betas tried before-hand or not. I can see it, quickly, attaining #1, Most Preferred Browser status. Will be fun to see if that comes to fruition & in what period of time.
I will say, running Edge & Edge C on the same hardware, things do seem to load faster with Edge C than, Edge.

DrewI dunno. I'd like to think so. But I can say, as a front line IT guy for a few thousand, I still get this a LOT:
"What's Edge?" MOST people are not going to rush out to upgrade. MOST people don't even know what this is or why they should care. Or not. Those that aren't FF or Chrome dedicated users will use the default browser whatever that may be. This is very likely the huge majority. So I'M hoping that Edgium will be the new default by 1909. I like the direction this browser is headed. Kudos to the dev team here. Good job so far

I have macbook it's first time rid of safari and using another browser I used to use safari on macbook and google chrome on windows now I use edge on both I love it even bing I give it another chance its results not duplicated- Anyone know if they've fixed the issue with bookmarks/favorite not syncing across multiple devices (all on the same - latest- Windows 10 build and also Edge dev build -latest-)?
For last weeks I have to manually export and import bookmarks which is little annoying.
Also, sometimes, Edge hangs up during import of bookmarks and spike the CPU up to 60 - 80% until I force kill in task manager. Elliot Kirk thank you for remove the yellow favorite folders. The standard (no color) favorite folders looks great in favorites bar! :)
I absolutely DISAGREE!! It is much more difficult to differentiate between links and folders. Please, please KEEP the yellow folders or at least make it an option

I know some people (because humans hate change) have a hard time to accept & live with things that are a little different than the past. But, much as people sometimes hate hearing it said, that is what we must do sometimes. Sometimes we have to take things and live with them whether they are how we think they should be or not. Then, it's a matter of run with because it is what it is OR run with it begrudgingly because it is what it is.
