paulstechtips Microsoft has not responded to other requests for package format information (see, for example, "Edge on Linux: Package Formats?") by providing actual information, nor has Microsoft responded to numerous requests for information about planned delivery of a Linux version of the browser.
This is what we know at present: (1) Microsoft announced last Spring that Edge will be developed for Linux; (2) Edge on Linux is listed (as of 9/15/2020) as "Planned" on the Top Feedback Summary, without further information; and (3) the trade press is reporting, based on comments made at the Ignite conference, that a Dev build of Edge on Linux will be available in October.

"The revamped version of Microsoft Edge is set to be released on Linux in October, so there really isn’t long to wait now – at least for the initial test version.
"Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that the preview version of Edge for Linux will be out next month and users will be able to grab the browser either from the Edge Insider website or via the native package installer for their particular Linux distro.
Speaking in his opening keynote at the company's Microsoft Ignite event, Nadella confirmed that Edge would be coming to Linux soon - but provided little extra detail."
I suspect that all we can do is wait and see. I'm prepared to begin testing Edge Linux when it is released for testing, but given that Linux users have been asking about Edge Linux in this forum for close to a year and a half, and given Microsoft's track record on sharing information, I'm not assuming anything at this point, including an October Dev release.
