Copilot cannot access Internet page
Copilot in Edge detects page metadata but cannot access page content
I am experiencing an issue with Copilot in Edge that has been ongoing for several weeks.
Environment
- Microsoft Edge Version 156.0.4314.58 (Official Build)
- Personal Microsoft Account
- Windows 11
- "Allow Copilot to read context clues on the web" is enabled
Issue Copilot can detect the active browser tab and page title, but it cannot access the actual content of the webpage.
When I ask Copilot to "Summarize this page" or ask questions about the page I am currently viewing, it is unable to generate a summary because the page content is not available. It appears that only the page metadata (title/tab information) is being passed to Copilot.
Troubleshooting already performed
- Verified that "Allow Copilot to read context clues on the web" is enabled.
- Verified Edge is signed in with my personal Microsoft account.
- Updated Edge to the latest version.
- Repaired Edge using Settings > Apps > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair.
- Restarted Edge and Windows.
- Issue persists across multiple websites.
Support Case Microsoft Support case: #7111205544
Could someone from the Edge/Copilot team confirm whether this is a known issue, a service-side problem, or a limitation of the current Copilot-Edge integration?
Thank you.

It should be noted that after the changeover, when Microsoft began charging for these services, additional problems began. How can Microsoft feel comfortable asking for a premium when the service no longer functions as it once did?
