Change search engine in address bar - drop down menu is greyed out

I've seen hundreds of posts and videos about how to change the default search engine used when you type in the address bar in Edge.  But when I get to the page to click on the drop down menu to select anything besides Bing, it is greyed out and will not let me click on it.  HELP!!
