We're Listening!
Greetings Microsoft Edge Insiders!
Let us start off by saying, welcome to the Microsoft Edge Insider community! We’re so excited to have you here, and we can’t wait to start learning from you. If you haven’t read our Welcome to the Microsoft Edge Insider community article yet, we recommend starting there. It has a bunch of great information on how we got here and where we’re heading.
Our mission:
Our mission is to create a thriving community of valuable Insiders, like you, so we can closely listen and learn how Microsoft Edge can be better. We believe that having open, honest, and continued conversations with our Insider community is a great way to build a close relationship with our users.
Why do all of this? Because we want to build a browser that’s deeply grounded in your needs. Your voice is the most important piece of helping us build a better Microsoft Edge. The feedback you provide leads to meaningful conversations that may ultimately produce the new features, bug fixes, and other improvements that matter the most to you. Listening is just the beginning for us. Our true goal is to build Microsoft Edge with the voice of the Insider community as our guiding light.
Community voice
When we announced the next version of Microsoft Edge back in December, we asked a simple question: If you could change one thing about the web, what would it be?
We were completely humbled by the over 40k comments you’ve shared with us. That’s a whole lot of ideas. Thank you!
You tell us that you love some things about the current Microsoft Edge browser, like the smooth scrolling experience, our Fluent Design and the precision touchpad, and you hope we’ll bring those things forward into the next version too.
Some of you are frustrated with the way that sites render so differently depending on the browser you're using to view them. You also tell us that Web Standards are on the top of your mind. We hear that you want all browsers to adopt the same standards. We hear from some of you web developers that you want new capabilities added to the web platform; whether that be in CSS, HTML or JavaScript. Another top request is an improved dev tools experience.
We hear that you have strong feelings about online advertising. Some of you wish ads that pop-up would just disappear and the same for auto-playing ads. While others feel a strong desire to remove or fundamentally change how online advertising works on the web. There is concern how these advertisements enable sites to track you as you browse which feels "creepy" and "invasive."
The overwhelming majority of comments (we’re talking thousands of messages) that we have read wish for a change in the fundamental attributes of the web. Make it faster, safer, more reliable and more private. You want your browsers to have smaller memory footprints, lower battery consumption, higher rendering speed and better stability. We agree with you wholeheartedly! The attributes that you say matter most in your browsing experience are performance, privacy, and reliability. So that is where we are starting.
We are focusing on delivering outstanding fundamentals. Speed, stability, accessibility, compatibility, security, and privacy are always top of mind for us. We are using your comments and suggestions to guide us while we are getting the new Microsoft Edge ready for its debut.
What’s next?
In the meantime, jump in, download the Microsoft Edge Insider Channels, and let us know what you think. What’s working well? Where do we need to improve? Over time, we hope to build healthy engagement and feedback loops with our community members.
We’re also mindful that our users have preferred ways to engage with us. Whether you view the latest information on the Microsoft Edge Insider website, enjoy direct discussions on our forum, need a personal support assistant via help (F1), share your feedback and suggestions via the smiley face, or just want to give us a shout on Twitter, we’re always listening and looking for ways to reach out wherever our users feel most comfortable and prefer to talk to us. We’re all ears!
Thank you for being here. We look forward to listening and engaging with you.

Elliot KirkIt´s going to be interesting to follow this change. In the long run I guess having fewer web engines is going to benefit us developers. I know it´s still early days but two things I feel after playing around with the beta installed today:
Scrolling is horribly jerky and laggy compared to normal edge
Please, please, please, please tell me you´re NOT going to keep the "rounded" look of the tabs and address text field a la chrome! This looks so totally outdated and bland and not at all as crisp as normal edge and also less inline with the general look and feel of windows 10...
- paco_DelgadoCopper ContributorEs formidable esta última actualización, un cambio notable que iré estudiando progresivamente, seguiremos en contacto.

Elliot Kirk I have seen that on Netflix, when you put subtitles, the subtitles remain on the screen unless you move the cursor

In Chrome, I had to install the "Windows 10 Accounts" extension from Microsoft. Do you plan to include the possibility to log in automatically to Office 365?
If not, I will simply install the extension but I think it should be baked in.
Thanks

Elliot Kirk Can we get a proper fullscreen mode on tablets? What I'm hoping for is something like Chrome on Android tablets or phones where the tabs and address bar are at the top until you scroll down and then they disappear only to retun on the upscroll. That would be great because Edge never did match the fullscreen functionality of IE 10 on Windows 8.1 on tablets.
- Drew1903Silver ContributorRight now, don't have proper Full screen on PCs, either; top bar is missing there, as well.
Cheers,
Drew

Elliot Kirk Is there currently a way to make the Chromium-Edge browser the supported public browser for Assigned Access (kiosk mode)?
Will this be possible upon final release if it is not possible at the moment?
- petedavison93Copper ContributorReally love the UI and speed I've experienced so far, but I'm missing some of the features from the previous iterations of Edge, such as tab previews on mouseover, the "set these tabs aside" button and the "send to phone" button. If these features are in the pipelines, then this will undoubtedly become my daily browser.

Pete,
Hi & welcome. It seems that, at least, 99.9% of us are seeing the same things as 'missing' & figuring that, at least, by release time they will not be missing, any longer. The common ground is the items you mention & more. Things we reckon should just be 'givens' and stick to the status quo. Not, closed to change, but, some same items we repeatedly hear must stay. Ergo, what we are figuring/expecting, really, does need to be reality not, be wistful hope or wishful thinking that comes to naught AND OR not, still, be waiting 🤞🏻 after release. Say the things here and submit them via Mr. Smiley 🙂. Feedback thoughts & comments are received, read & acknowledged. It is wrong for Folks to think Feedback is a waste & does nothing. The fact is Insiders exist for good reason with their input being invaluable. Stuff IS done based on Insider use & response. It does give important guidance to Build Teams. It is effective & not ignored, at all. We have seen the results. The suggested process is not rubbish, it helps, is taken seriously & does garner appropiate action.
Anyway, you're not alone. Most of us are all seeing (or not seeing 😉) the same things. Be hard to not hear what we are all saying 🤞🏻. But, we ought to keep saying it, anyway, me thinks.
It is, true, one cannot help but notice the speed! 🌩
Cheers,
Drew

Elliot KirkAre you planning to support Dolby vision (or HDR) as previous Edge? I am using lenovo thinkpad X1 carbont 6th that has dolby vision (or HDR). The color was great when I was using previous version of Edge, but now in this new Chromium Edge, colors doesn't look as good as before. Please support HDR! If so, this browser will be my go-to browser.
- Ready4MartinisCopper ContributorHi Everyone!! I just downloaded the new Edge DEV to test and provide input, I'm looking forward to it. What do you folks think of DEV so far? Is it lightspeed nth degree to the orbit better than Edge? I truly hope so.

There seems to be a wide-spread feeling that it is, very, fast, snappy & stable. The level of (its) performance seems high & unquestioned. Ergo, we, are, mostly concerned with Features; past, present & coming and what people like & or do not want removed.
Cheers,
Drew
