We're Listening!
So rather than fix the problem of Edge not working correctly with various website such as Facebook and Youtube, MS now hang their hat on the Chrome platform and hope its all going to sort itself out.
I moved away from Chrome because despite the hype from Google, it didn't do for me what it said on the can, and now we have another less option in the browser choices with Edge sucking up to that particular platform and dumping non Chrome users by the wayside. Hardly what I call and as you claim, listening.
Can anybody suggest a non Chrome based browser that will run web pages correctly? Is there anything left that has not been sullied by Google?
I agree that the Google browser UI is not the greatest. It does not work for me either. But, what the major browsers are doing is using the same engine under need. This way you should have no problems with standards compliance. The difference will be how the UI is implemented. Chromium is developed as an open project where all companies can contribute, and most do. Hopefully, we also don't hear that dumb thing of we are 1/100 of a second faster in loading a page anymore. Of that really makes a difference.
I think it is a good thing that the same engine is used in all browsers. This way all websites should show the same no matter which browser you use. It makes it so much easier for developers. Doubt you can get away from Chromium in the future. Except maybe Apple, they always seem to think they know better.
