Dan,
We'll see what Elliot may say about this, but, as for myself... I cannot repro the behavior you have.  Upon Ctrl+P the Printer dialogue window opens, for me, immediately.  I take it you have a more instant reaction for this if using Edge?  Was it always slow or is this newly recent behavior?  Did you remove & replace (disconnect-reconnect) the printer?, if not, do that, too.
Cheers,
Drew
Sorry, it took a while for me to reply. I've been busier than a 1-armed paper hanger!! 😁 Anyway, when I hit CTRL-P, the printer dialog comes up immediately, but the default is SAVE AS PDF. When I click in the Add a Printer, the list of printers doesn't populate immediately, and takes up to 1/2 or a minute.
Traditional Edge uses the Windows 10 print dialog, and my default printer pops up immediately. Edge Can, Def, and Beta all use a different print dialog, probably based on Chromium.
I'd post screen shots, but I can't get WIN-V to work on this page. I suppose I could save them as files and then upload them. I will, if you or Elliot need me to.
Regards,
Dan

Hi,
does the printer list take a long time to populate on all applications or only on Edge insider?
for example try CTRL + P on Photos app or Word document and see their timings.
Snip & Sketch is the most useful in these cases, specially when PrntScrn is set to launch it
- Dan_AI4GKOct 12, 2019Iron ContributorThanks for that tip! It seems I'll have to restart my computer for the PrintScreen to take effect, but that's a superb setting!

No worries, Dan, just how life goes. But, cool to have your note, now. I took that & looked at (my) similar things. ... when one uses stuff habitually, it's like giving directions, but, you don't know the street names
Anyway, mine used to & sometimes does open to the PDF. BUT, my printer was/is, also, listed as choice... without having to go through or use or wait for Add printer; your default printer should appear (& stay). Now, from past use, as you can see in the snip, opens to the printer.
As far as capturing/saving/sharing images: I recommend or point you to Snip & Sketch. Grab whatever Rectangle, Free-form, Window or Full screen you want & can do mark-up on said image, as well. Then, Save, then, can insert* here or do various other things & places with your stuff. Most everything I put in here including, notes, circles, arrows, et al I add is done with Snip & Sketch including, the image above in this note. Win+V (basically Copy/Paste) will work into Twitter, Mail & whatnot, but, not into Message Boards (Forums).

Drew1903 Yes, I use Snip & Sketch a LOT! It's one of the handiest features around. I first was a bit peeved when they started the migration from Screen Snip, but now I'm glad that they did!
Understand about saving snipped screens as a file. I had tried using -V.
So, here is what I was talking about.

Why one time there is only "Save as PDF" option available on the list and other time the full list of printers (including physical and virtual) ones are available?
(virtual I mean OneNote, OneNote 2016, PDF, XPS etc) and (physical I mean HP Office Jet)
Or is the left screenshot the list you get immediately after pressing CTRL + P and the right screenshot is the same list you get after waiting some time for it to populate?
