There is nothing dangerous about it.
it's happened to me lots of times.
my progress was never lost, the text i had in the text box was always there.
the idea of sleeping tabs is not only putting tabs to sleep, it also saves their states and restores them instantly.
about reply problem, if you have Microsoft Editor extension installed, try disabling it.
it's a known issue, the extension adds extra characters to the post. both MTC and Editor extension teams are aware of it.
