New Tab Page Walkthrough
I know this might be slighly off-topic, but it involves the New Tab page. It would be fantastic if the "Hide Stories from [Website/Publisher]" that adds websites to a block list were actually prevented from showing up in the news feed. As it stands right now, I have numerous blocked sources in a giant list and many of them still show up in my newsfeed. It doesn't matter how many times I tell MSN not to show me horoscope articles and clickbait junk. On the same note, when flagging an ad (such as "Tinitus?? Try this! (with a picture of someone shoving something in their ear they shouldn't)) as "not interested", "already seen" or inappropriate, we just get a "Thanks for the feedback!" message, then it disappears and displays the same ad again. It doesn't feel like anyone cares about the user experience with regard to their customization of their news feed or ads shown in their face, really. It gives the impression that it's not a blocking mechanism at all but another way to gather data about a user's interests. I don't really think that's the case, I believe it's a bug or something.
On the note of ads, I'd rather pay a small monthly fee if I could just get them out of my new tab/start pages and keep just the MSN community stuff and a (working) custom news feed.
I've tried using the reporting/feedback mechanisms in Edge and haven't seen any updates, nor received any replies even though I have provided the option to be contacted.
Thanks for anything you do WRT these things.
