The ad-block issues are the result of a 'coding war' between Google and developers of adblocking software and services. This has been noted in the mainstream tech press for some time, and promises from Google to advertisers is that their numbers will be more accurate in exchange for finding ways to disable the adblockers. The response from computer users is that the VPN providers now provide a much more effective screen, as well as masking information that leaks out of browsers or background tasks better than any plug-in or add on. This is a 'war' that Google didn't want, but has to engage in to protect their monopoly on ads and keep the free services running. It should be noted they are not entirely transparent about their costs and returns on what ads (or who they're from) that they allow to run on that service. It should be also noted that uBlock origin has at least one (and maybe others) developer that also works with Edge development as well. The issues for now are best solved by VPN features like 'clean web' on Surfshark, who is much farther along on controlling these issues than browser developers are. This is why VPN services have been growing the way they are in recent years, and will continue to do so. They have the resources and the coders to address those concerns.
