I like this new experience a lot, and was hoping for it, much before it was even planned by the edge team. It makes the UI consistent, much easier to use just like any extensions, favorites, history, collections etc. Also It helps to save the bottom space of my screen. Plus it is easier to see all the downloaded files in a flyout, instead of showing a few names at the bottom (I personally always hated the bottom download bar).
And yes I agree, for people which do not like it, MS could bring an option to switch old download bar. That way browser could become more customizable. and all kinds of people would be happy.
