Introducing Buy now, pay later in Microsoft Edge
“Buy now, pay later,” or BNPL, lets shoppers break their purchases into equal installment payments, often interest-free, which can allow shoppers to get their purchase upfront, instead of having to wait until it’s paid in full.
Usually, BNPL is offered in specific ecommerce websites like Target, Walmart. But now, Microsoft partners with 3rd party Zip (previously Quadpay) to offer a BNPL payment option at browser level. It means any purchase between $35 - $1,000 you make through Microsoft Edge can be split into 4 installments over 6 weeks.
On top of coverage, we also aim to 1) meet you where you are. 2) simplify the application process.
Meet you where you are:
When you are in checkout page, you can find BNPL option right when you enter credit card number
For some shoppers, you can also find BNPL option right when you enter checkout page.
Simplify application process:
Applying BNPL could take time, you need to sign in with zip every single time. With BNPL in Edge, you can simply link your Microsoft account with your zip account with one click and then bypass sign in from Zip side. It can expedite the application process for you.
BNPL is currently available in Microsoft Edge Canary and Dev channels and will be available by default to all users in Microsoft Edge release 96. If you experience any issue while using this feature, please let us know through Microsoft Edge by pressing Shift+Alt+I on a Windows device or going to Settings and more … > Help and feedback > Send feedback.
You can read more on the FAQ support article. Please also join us here on the Microsoft Edge Insider forums or Twitter to discuss your experience or send us your feedback through the browser! We hope you enjoy this exciting new feature and look forward to hearing from you!

- AnOldAmigaUserIron ContributorHow do I turn this feature off? The first time I see it will be the last time I use edge.
- Lima313Copper ContributorThanks for adding this. So much better than a credit card and so easy. I'm not sure why everyone thinks it is bloatware or expensive, as an extension i could not tell the difference. And I don't pay fees because I pay the minimum balance each month, unlike any other credit card
- BioTurboNickIron ContributorA fixed $4 fee on a $35 purchase is insanely worse than any credit card.

I can't find the setting to turn this off and it clutters the payment methods I have stored. I know I never want to use this - how do I remove it from the display?

mehua If the team has so much time to spare in these unwanted features, why don't you improve the performance of edge.
- Flyouts of bookmarks, favourites, history, downloads, view site information are very slow. They compose themselves in 20 seconds while extensions is a champ.
- The GPU process has started consuming lots of RAM.
- Settings page hangs everytime for 30 seconds I try to open it.
- edge://gpu page hangs for 15 seconds when I open it. And these edge://gpu and settings page both freeze the browser. Why don't you maintain a separate process for them?
- Math solver is a bloat. We aren't kids.
- Alerts and tips is also a bloat.
- Print preview is very slow. Try to improve its performance.
- Search on pdf's is very slow. See how well the google drive app on android searches. Have a look on it.
- Give me the ability in the browser to deep suspend all background tabs. By deep suspend, I mean they shouln't be wokeup and but should remain in ram. Be it video playing tab or any tab for that purpose. or Atleast provide this functionality in the sleeping tabs.
- Web Capture doesn't look professional at all and is very slow. Give it the ability to save file anywhere with any name. With auto clipboard copy option in settings.
I have mentioned so many ideas and you are from the team, you must be knowing a lot more problems.
Work on these, why waste time in providing bloat.
- Metin_HsnvBrass ContributorI don't know how old a device you are using but most stuff you call "slow" isn't a case for me. All of them work smoothly. Also, why Math solver is a bloat it is not for just to calculate 1+1 it can solve the most of advanced math problems. I don't know what world you live in, but math has never been just for kids. And even though. Edge's purpose is to become a browser for almost every type of user. From people who use it for shopping to who uses it for work/school stuff which means kids also using browsers. Maybe don't be that selfish next time and think about all potential users instead of just YOUR experience.

Metin_Hsnv Totally agree with you, it's a great feature for solving advanced math solutions, even the default calculator on Windows 10 Mobile or Windows 11/10 has more features than your standard phones nowadays. Shopping is nice as you can see coupon history, even though you may hate the fact of BNPL. There are people who still use financing for purchases for major appliances or when they really need it. Even though you may not use it and take it for granted, some do. I like the Give with Bing feature, the fast way to alt-tab between Edge profiles, Collections, Vertical tabs are just amazing for research/school. Every single OS - iOS/Android/Windows/macOS all have a default browser that can't be uninstalled. Some aspects of macOS even though the default is Edge some still open in Safari since that is the only browser that will always be there. It is designed to be smooth, fast only on that OS. It is just Edge has a bad reputation and also people don't like Bing. Bing is actually a wonderful search engine! I like the widgets feature, it quickly tells me my to-do list, calendar or weather or traffic.
When I suggested features to the development teams of Edge, Office, Windows, not only did they bring the feature I want, they also made it look nice and work seamlessly through products. There is always a reason behind something, that may take some time to understand. Not everything wants to want, there is always a reason.
There might have been people who suggested this, instead of whining, suggest that they work on improving other services or just ignore this fact. Thank you 🙂
have a wondeful day!
Shawn
- AnonymousThere are many Edge teams working on the browser, this is the shopping feature team and the others are getting fixed 🙂 just send fedback

mehua Also make the force block all ads in developer settings perpetual. We won't need any adblockers.
- sauravyad500Iron Contributor
mehua Also give the option to darken and un-darken any page without actually restarting the browser. You have this provided as a setting in developer settings, but not to regular users.
Provide this as a moon or sun option in the toolbar or tab bar.
- NuAngelIron ContributorPull the plug on this feature immediately. This is the slimiest thing I can possibly think of. I'd rather a browser inject more fake ads into a website I'm viewing before predatory lending schemes get added to my browser. I'm not even the target audience to fall for these, but that doesn't mean I don't think it's absolutely disgusting.
- sauravyad500Iron ContributorPlease mention in detail what is this $4 platform fee. And how will you earn from it?
- mkonininIron ContributorHow much slower will be checkout process with edge checking some unneccesary API? It's not supported in my country and it will only slow me down. At least let me disable it in settings
- AnonymousHi, if it is no in your country, Edge won't have that feature in your browser as it is region located.
- sauravyad500Iron Contributor
I totally agree with you. If this feature goes live, microsoft edge will again become a legacy browser filled with bloat that nobody asked for.
- sauravyad500Iron Contributor
mehua This will be considered as a very cheap strategy to earn money. Whoever wants to shop can always go for it the other way either through extension or through website. What's the benefit of integrating it in the browser. Already edge has lot's of crap services like shopping add-on, collection service which always keeps running. These consume a lot many resources aren't useful for many people. I don't use collections at all. For me this service shouldn't run but this always runs like a monster self-awakened every minute or so.
I would love to see them as on-demand service. Looks like introducing so many services would want to you make a separate services.msc console for microsoft edge.

- AnonymousEdge is the best browser, collections is like a great way to store favourites or do a school project. Things can change and somethings can turn bad to good : )
- Jp12345Copper ContributorI love it. Amazing feature. I don't know why everyone is upset. If you don't want to use it you don't need to. Also, it will allow me to get more Christmas presents for my Family at any store I want. Awesome!!!
- AnonymousThat's wonderful, I am so happy that you are able to be able to give presents to your family this Christmas, that is a like a wish come true and it's so hard for people like you. I feel sad that not everyone understands this.
- fourbadcatsBrass ContributorThis is not a good thing to put into a browser! Leave this to lenders and other companies and stop bloating the browser for such a bad idea. Not good to stoop to this.
- Josh1185Copper ContributorFantastic option! Thanks for providing this
