I remember this being an issue earlier in 2020. What build version are you on? Can you update to the latest build of office 365? Did this issue exist before an update? You can try to install a downgraded version to see if it will help:
1. Open the command prompt and change to the following path
cd “C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun”
2. Enter the following command at the command prompt
officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=Version Number where it worked swimmingly
