Migration from GoDaddy
Wondering if anyone has some suggestions with how to get around this error:
"Enabling customization is not allowed because the Organization is currently being upgraded."
We are trying to move a customer from GoDaddy to native Office 365 and when we are trying to implement the Application Impersonation feature and "Enable Customization" via Powershell.
There have been no changes to the tenant that we are aware of as the end user wouldn't know how to do anything.
I'm concerned that we might have to do the migration manually as from what i've read this would be a Microsoft backend fix and well i'm sure this will be super difficult if we have to go via GoDaddy (as it's currently their tenant in their iteration of Office365) to get any back end changes.
Any feedback would be welcomed!

Hey TaiyoT ,
No need to migrate from one tenant to another—we can actually do something much better: it’s called Defederation.
Defederation allows us to remove GoDaddy’s control over the tenant and bring it fully under Microsoft’s management without changing accounts, data, or emails. Here’s how it works:

1- Disconnect GoDaddy
- Access the hidden Microsoft admin panel
- Remove GoDaddy’s federation and regain control
2- Assign Microsoft Licenses
- Purchase new licenses directly from Microsoft (GoDaddy licenses can't be transferred)
- Use shared mailboxes where possible to optimize cost
3- Update, Secure & Adapt
- Reset all user passwords
- Update DNS to Microsoft for better email security
- Change SharePoint URL to a new, Microsoft-managed domain (optional but recommended)
4-Verify & Finalize
- Seamless transition with zero downtime
- Full access to Microsoft 365 admin features, security tools, and no GoDaddy restrictions
Result: Native Microsoft 365 tenant with full control and better long-term scalability.
