Excel Task Pane Add-in Deployment

I am developing an Excel Task Pane Add-in in React. Once the Add-in is published/deployed for public use; let's say that I need to redeploy a new version does the user have to reinstall the Add-In?

    Suppose you can develop an Add-in to detect that a newer version is available and silently install it before carrying on with the user's operation
