Who leads your EEx? Or do you just have DEX+HCM?

In my experience, most Enterprises have or are trying to run these programs:

  1. "Digital Employee Experience"(DEX) led by IT. (1) Manage performance and reliability with devices and programs. (2) Mobile work-related tools and work-from-anywhere policies. (3) Effective collaboration with team members.

  2. "Employee Experience"(EEx) led by ?????? (1) Nurture a positive work environment that fosters employee satisfaction, learning, engagement, productivity, and advocacy. (2) This is not just about making employees happy but creating an empathetic culture where staff thrive and contribute to success.

  3. "Human Capital Management" (HCM) led by HR. (1) Architect traditional HR into opportunities that lead to increased efficiency. (2) Spans workforce planning, compensation planning, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding, etc.

It appears the grey area is (2). IC supports business strategy, crisis, and change management news and strategies. HR exists to lead people and HR policies. Neither is focused on digital assessment or improvements. The objective is to improve productivity and company culture - unless you are lucky enough to have a Digital Comms Department - or similar.

"Bringing the outside in" is disregarded and neglected, with barely anyone providing support functions with assessment, guidance on what tool, when, why, and keeping a keen eye on the future that truly understands the business strategy and cloud technology. IT buys tech licenses, often not fully appreciating what they have, and doesn't inform the business of performance benefits. When the company does not have a good partnership with IT, they turn to shadow IT like WhatsApp, which contravenes most HR Policies as it captures PII to create groups. Or use the same old products or features that are old-fashioned in how they collaborate and communicate outside of work daily with friends and family.

(Note: When did you last arrange an event with email, e.g., a party? We use networking apps like Facebook or WhatsApp. Email is still needed for formal comms like buying a house or financial management).

Please share your insights if you have overcome the above and have a great employee experience culture. Where do the roles sit in the business? Thank you.

Yes Lesley! I love my position, I technically sit in IT but I focus on Employee Experience of these technologies. Our current approach focuses on meeting employees where they are. That means partnering with Corp Comm to have Tips on our Intranet, going to in person events, sharing tips with employees that they can share with others, and so on!

I think my next approach is really to dive into the data, determine where are adoption strength and weaknesses are! With 90,000 employees though it is a bit of a challenge.

I am sure you will be diving into the data accessed here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/usage-analytics/usage-analytics?view=o365-worldwide

"The Microsoft 365 overview report contains the following reports.

      • Adoption – Learn how your users have adopted M365 and how overall usage of the individual services has changed month over month. See how many users are enabled, how many people in your organization actively use M365, returning users, and how many are using the product for the first time.

      • Usage – Offers a drill-down view into the volume of active users and the key activities for each product for the last 12 months. Use the reports in this section to learn how your organization uses Microsoft 365.

      • Communication – See whether people in your org prefer to stay in touch by using Teams, Viva Engage, email, or Skype calls. Observe if there are shifts in patterns in the use of communication tools among your employees.

      • Collaboration – See how people in your organization use OneDrive and SharePoint to store documents and collaborate, and how these trends evolve month over month. You can also see how many users shared documents internally or externally and how many users used SharePoint sites or OneDrive accounts, broken out by owners and other collaborators.

      • Storage – Track cloud storage for mailboxes, OneDrive, and SharePoint sites.

      • Mobility – Track which clients and devices people use to connect to email, Teams, Skype, or Viva Engage. "
