Copilot List error

I’m seeing a persistent issue when integrating SharePoint lists with Copilot Studio agents. Any SharePoint list I add to an agent results in an error being shown in the Copilot Studio UI, but no error message, diagnostic detail, or failure reason is surfaced.

I’ve removed and re-added the list connections multiple times and reproduced the issue across multiple agents, with the same outcome each time. Has anyone encountered this behaviour, or are there known issues or prerequisites (e.g. permissions, connector state, tenant configuration, or recent service changes) that could cause silent failures when integrating SharePoint lists?

  • Thanks for sharing your feedback on SharePoint list integration with Copilot Studio. Silent failures can indeed be frustrating, especially after standard troubleshooting. From recent documentation and field observations, these issues are often linked to authentication and permissions: Copilot Studio requires user-based authentication, appropriate SharePoint access (at least Read), and does not support service principals for SharePoint grounding. Tenant-level constraints (such as restricted SharePoint search) or site accessibility can also block data access without clear errors. As this is still a relatively new feature, intermittent reliability issues have been reported. At this stage, I’d recommend revalidating authentication and permissions, and if the issue persists, opening a Microsoft support ticket with detailed reproduction steps. As a workaround, using Power Automate to fetch SharePoint data and pass it to the agent can be a viable alternative.
