DOCacheHost Setting Query
- Jan 17, 2025
Hi marty5, thanks for your question.
The DOCacheHost setting is just an endpoint, like a CDN, and is not dependent on where it is on the network. The only thing to remember is the Delivery Optimization client will connect to the listed Microsoft Connected Cache servers in the order as they are listed. Hope that helps!

Hi Carmen,
It would be good if this was clarified in the documentation as a branch client may be able to see a server in another branch and try to contact it rather than the server in its own branch.
An option to limit contacting a cache using the local subnet only would be useful.

if you need to restrict the MCCE to provide content in the same subnet as the devices are in and you are unable to restrict from DOCacheHost policy [you may have clients moving around] then you can look at using OptionID235 along with DOCacheHostSource set to 1, the Cache Node IP can be set at subnet level and a device in the same subnet will get the related MCCE Cache host IP.

Microsoft
I agree, I'll work on getting this clarification documented and will consider the feedback for a future enhancement. Thank you.
