Mendeley Add On Permission Error on Personal Device

I have the Mendeley plugin installed in Microsoft Word for a Windows computer. I have used this plugin for years and have had no issues. It is a personal computer owned by me and a personal account and personal subscription to office. Now when I try and use the add in it says "You don't have permission to use this add in. Contact your System Administrator to request access." While I do have Microsoft Accounts through two universities, these are not used on this device and should not have managing capabilities. How do I resolve this issue? I tried Microsoft Live Chat but they were useless.

    I have the same issue right now.  I have used Mendeley for years on my personal computer as a word plug in an suddenly now I can't in September 2026. I'm on a personal computer but my workplace just upgraded to Microsoft office 365 and I'm trying to update a research paper that is work related.  I've accessed my work email on my personal computer and now it seems my own personal version of word can't accept plug-ins.  

     

    I don't understand how to get all of the office accounts untangled.  I have accounts for my kids school, my work, my school and now it seems each one takes control over my personal version of office. I have signed out of everything I think.

     

    I'm on a tight deadline to reply to the Journal's reviewers and now I can't access and update my references! Please help!!
